Pooja Prem ( World Record Singer) who created sensation in the art world by shattering several records by singing songs in different languages, has been awarded an honorary Doctorate by Ballsbridge University for her contribution to the music field.
She was presented with the degree at a convocation ceremony at New Delhi on Sunday. Pooja is one of the youngest women to be awarded with an honorary doctorate in the world. Pooja said she was truly honoured and humbled to receive the special recognition and added that it will inspire her to scale new heights.
Pooja, who made it to the Limca Book of Records, Universal Records Forum World Records and Arabian Book of World Records by continuously singing 36 songs in 36 different languages at the age of 14, She is trying to achieve the milestone by singing 105 songs in 105 languages.
Pooja, who is 18 now, has already mastered songs in 65 languages. She hopes to complete the remaining languages within a year.
Pooja has held shows in various states the country and in a few countries in the Middle East.
Pooja practices music while studying. She has not allowed her passion for music to affect her studies. A topper in commerce subject in her school, she is now studying for degree in Business Administration at Jain University at Kochi. She plans to go for Master of Business Administration. The university has offered her free education considering her rare talents.
The only daughter of Premkumar and Sangeetha, Pooja learns the songs in other languages from Youtube. She said she is able to learn and sing songs in another language within three to five days. After learning the song, she sends the recording to experts in the respective language and make sure she pronounces the lyrics correctly. Pooja is residing at Ernakulam .
